Protection for every Ride
For additional protection
When a motorcycle goes down—whether in a slow-speed tip-over, a slide in gravel, or a surprise encounter with a curb—the consequences can be more than cosmetic. A single impact can crack the engine casing, dent the fairing, or bend the shift lever, leading to costly repairs and ruined rides. That’s where motorbike crash bars come in. Engineered to protect, tested in the real world, and tailored for exact motorcycle models, crash bars from SW-MOTECH are essential gear for riders who refuse to compromise on protection.
All SW-MOTECH motorcycle crash pads are made from precision-machined steel tubing – either powder coated in black or stainless steel for added corrosion resistance. Typical diameters range from 22 mm to 27 mm, with wall thickness optimized for optimal impact absorption. This material composition provides protection without excessive weight, so performance and handling are not compromised.
The design process is based on 3D scans and bike-specific measurements. Every bend, weld, and mounting point is strategically placed to reinforce vulnerable areas of the motorcycle. The goal: to limit damage to replaceable parts, not the frame or engine block. In addition, SW-MOTECH protection bars are designed to maintain lean angles, ensuring unrestricted cornering. This means that protection does not come at the expense of rideability.
Whether you ride a streetfighter or an ADV machine, a crash bar from SW-MOTECH provides essential impact protection for the engine block, fairing, and fuel tank. Each system is designed specifically for the motorcycle it's intended to protect, so it fits seamlessly into the contours of the bike and maintains full lean angle for safe cornering. The crash bars are mounted to the original mounting points on the frame and subframe, providing high strength without modifications. Riders benefit from a precise fit and robust design features that have been tested in the field for durability.
Crash bars vary depending on the motorcycle model and are available with different options for tube diameter, material, finish, and color. Some designs also allow the attachment of accessories such as additional lighting or tool holders. For riders looking for comprehensive protection, we offer all-in-one protection kits. These packages combine crash bars, underride protection and additional protective devices into a uniform, cost-effective solution – ideal for adventure and dual-sport motorcycles.
For riders who want to protect more than just the engine, upper crash bars are the next step. They complement the standard crash bars and extend the protection upwards to cover the fairing, radiator and upper tank area – components that are particularly vulnerable in the event of a fall or when the bike is knocked over on uneven ground. These upper bars are made from the same high-strength materials as the lower crash bars and follow the outline of the motorcycle body. Depending on the model, they are available in powder-coated steel or stainless steel. Like all SW-MOTECH protective devices, they are designed specifically for each bike to ensure a precise fit and clean look. The upper crash bars are mounted on the existing crash bar system or on the motorcycle's factory mounting points. No frame modifications are required. Some models require base crash bars for mounting the upper protection bars – either from SW-MOTECH or the motorcycle manufacturer. Therefore, be sure to check compatibility on the product detail page.
Together, the upper and lower crash bars form a complete, cage-like protection system that is ideal for riders who frequently tour, ride off-road, or simply want to keep their motorcycle in the best possible condition.
Whether you ride a lightweight commuter motorcycle or a fully equipped touring machine, SW-MOTECH crash bars offer custom-tailored protection without compromising performance or style. They are tailored to the geometry of each motorcycle, blend harmoniously into the silhouette of the motorcycle and ensure maximum cornering freedom.
Installation is a breeze. The bars are bolted to the factory mounting points without requiring any permanent changes. All necessary parts are included in delivery, and only standard tools are usually required for installation. Once installed, the crash bars are maintenance-free – just check the bolts occasionally and you're good to go. Crash bars not only protect against damage, but also serve as a mounting base for accessories such as additional headlights, action cameras or small utility bags. Designed to meet the challenges of touring, commuting and adventure riding alike, they are the kind of equipment you install once and then trust on every ride.
SW-MOTECH also offers frame and axle sliders – compact components that absorb and distribute the impact energy in the event of a fall. The frame sliders are mounted at critical points along the motorcycle frame and are made of abrasion-resistant polyamide. Their aerodynamic style provides a smooth sliding effect instead of abrupt contact, helping to prevent damage to plastic parts and internal components. Each slider has a solid aluminum base and is designed for specific motorcycle models. After a fall, the polyamide pads can be replaced individually – there is no need to replace the entire unit.
Axle sliders offer additional protection for the front and rear wheel area, including the fork ends, swing arm, and axle bolts. These sliders are available as individual sets or complete packages for full axle coverage and are particularly useful for minimizing damage in sideways slides or when the motorcycle tips over in tight parking spaces. Together with crash bars, frame and axle sliders form a comprehensive protection strategy that reduces repair costs and keeps your motorcycle roadworthy even after unexpected incidents.
